The Story
Borgo Santo Pietro was born from our personal dream, a home for our family.

We stumbled across the dilapidated ruin in 2001, then nothing more than a crumbling hamlet, standing amidst fields of mud and set about planning its restoration, to bring the hamlet back to life.

Feeling it needed to be shared, we embarked on the long and ever evolving journey to create an intimate boutique-style hotel and have spent years lovingly reinstating it to a long forgotten noble splendor, when it was a healing retreat for pilgrims to rest and recuperate.

Our vision for the gardens and desolate fields surrounding the villa involved the painstaking planning, planting of 250,000 plants and elaborate landscaping. e calming and recuperative power of the place lured us and kept us clear on our long crusade.

To restore the estate to its former glory, local craftsmen worked with artisans from around the world.
With furniture and architectural detailing sourced from in and outside Italy, plants from across Europe, and years of work, the essence of Borgo Santo Pietro grew into the elegant and welcoming place we dreamed it would be.
Borgo is still evolving and growing, and with it our passion to ensure guests a home from home…

The Villa
On your arrival, entering the hall, the heart of Borgo Santo Pietro, the open fire and comfortable furniture welcome you in. The perfect meeting point or space to catch a rest.
In the music room, the classic Italian interior works with the in-house style of Borgo to create a relaxed elegance, as beautiful and harmonious as the notes played on the grand piano. Enjoy live music, a game of chess or your favourite novel.
For those wanting the peace and the feel of a time-honoured library, the second floor of the villa has just that. Choose from a selection of old editions of classic novels or perhaps a DVD of your favourite movie to escape to your room with.
If the bright view of the gardens tempt you outside, step out onto the balcony which leads you to the courtyard, another inviting spot to enjoy your book.
Following a restful nights sleep, come together for chatter in the traditional Tuscan kitchen and share tales of the previous days activities. The Morning Kitchen overlooks the terrace and is flooded with warm light. Fresh views and food to fill you with promise for the bright day ahead.
Warmth, relaxation and elegance reach every corner of Borgo and never fail to whisk you away.

Food and Wine

Exquisite yet simple, thoughtful and nurtured. We promise to serve these things to you and let the quality and the freshness of the ingredients, tell their own story. All we add is our love and passion for food.

We promise to know the journey of all of our ingredients, so the meats we serve are produced locally, on free range farms and the fish that we serve, turbot, red mullet, octopus and lobster, fresh from the mornings catch, arrives fresh from Mediterranean waters.

Our gardeners tend to the organic orchards, kitchen and herb gardens all year round and produce a bounty of variety for our chefs to choose from. The land, gardeners and chefs work closely together to give you unique and delicious seasonal creations, almost as attractive to the eye as they are to the palate.

Such is our love of homegrown and homemade produce, all of the bread, jams and yoghurts we serve at breakfast and alongside main dishes for lunch and dinner, are freshly made in our kitchen every single day.

The Suites
Rinaldo di Sorciano
In 1252 the former local resident Rinaldo Pievano di Sorciano held court at Borgo Santo Pietro and is famous for selling our church, St Pietro e Cellole, to the Abbey San Galgano.
It is this illustrious man who has inspired this grand and dramatic ground floor bedroom. In the colder months, have a the fire lit in time for your arrival, flames glinting off the impressive marble fireplace and spectacular crystal chandelier.
Throw open the french doors opening out to the courtyard, inviting the unmistakable scent of roses to greet you good morning, or wish you good night.
